"Marieke has a manner that sets me immediately at ease. With her gentle confidence, Marieke creates a safe space to share, explore and grow. I look forward to my time with her, as I always end up feeling simultaneously grounded and ready to fly!"

Coaching

  • Why is it so difficult to achieve certain desires in our lives? Whether it’s longing for deeper relationships, stability, success, better health, there is always something that we can’t seem to get a hold of.

Our brains are wired in a survival mechanism to keep us safe. Knowing this, it makes sense that it can be hard to step out of our comfort zones, take risks, break habits.

But we CAN uncover these patterns in our minds, as well as the conditioning we’ve learned from our surroundings, our families, and the greater social consciousness.

Learning to act from a different part of the brain, creating new thought processes and new habits that work towards actually achieving our desires, creates the feeling of self worth and deeper trust.

I know this is doable because I have done and continue to do the work myself. It is SO exciting to continue on a path of learning and expansion. I know how great it feels to discover a new version of myself with every shattered pattern and new found open-mindedness. I love coaching not only because I have a desire to help others (and I’ve been told I have a relaxed and non-judmental demeanor) but because I know in my core that working with others expands me as well, and is rewarding for all.

“My mom had heart surgery last Monday and this has been a week beyond anything I’ve ever experienced or could have imagined. I sat by her bed in the ICU using your blind contour drawing Marieke and it was so grounding through such a painful time.”

Creative Workshops

  • The logical mind tells us that spending time in creativity is not a productive use of time. BUT:

There is now so much research that proves that creativity is vital to our health:

“There are several regions in the brain…that work to help you determine what is salient. This has been identified as the saliency network. Arts and aesthetic experiences emerge as major conduits for greater saliency. Arts and aesthetics can quite literally rewire your brain.”

    • “Your Brain On Art” by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross

We are born creative, it’s our most vital tool for problem solving and having the capacity to see new potentials. Fostering this inner sense really can change how you perceive your life, your awareness and the choices you make.

However, our culture values perfection - getting creative is vulnerable. Who doesn’t relate to that “not good enough” feeling? Why can’t we just let go and have fun?

My workshops are designed to support the Wabi-Sabi sensibility: the beauty of imperfection. My desire is for us all to feel supported in our own creativity, whatever that may be, however it expresses itself. My creative space is one of non-judgement, and opening to new ideas. Using mindful visual art methods we open up awareness and observation which are tools that impact and improve other areas of our lives. So no matter if your creativity is musical, in writing, or even with numbers - whatever it is - its a practice to get into the state of present awareness.
